In his book “Tarihu Baghdad” (“History of Baghdad”), Khatib Baghdadi narrates from Ibn Abbas that 300 verses of the Quran were revealed about Ali (A):
“We were narrated by Abu Yali from Kuhi ibn Hasan Farsi from Ahmad ibn Qasim from Muhammad ibn Habash Mamuny from Salam ibn Sulayman Saqafi from Ismail ibn Muhammad Madaini from Jubayr from Zahhak from Ibn Abbas that he said: “Three hundred verses were revealed about Ali (A).”
